Following incidences of reports of sexual harassment of women at workplace, The Local Committee (Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District) in collaboration with North East Network, Meghalaya organized an awareness programme on Sexual Harassment of Women and Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, with the local shopkeepers of Police Bazaar at Opera Hall, Thana Road, Shillong on 1st February, 2019. Kong Joy Grace Syiem, Programme Manager of NEN, was the resource person for the event who explained about the provisions of the Act and the importance of forming an internal/local committee. Kong I Majaw, ADC, East Khasi Hills/ Chairman of Local Committee also spoke at the event and urged the shopkeepers to create a safe space for the women employers.
