In February 2025, 39 women farmers and youth members of North East Network, Assam, came together in Guwahati for a capacity-building workshop focused on seed sovereignty.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the role of local communities in promoting indigenous seeds—vital for ensuring food security, preserving biodiversity, and enhancing climate resilience. Facilitated by Samir Bordoloi of SPREAD NE, the workshop culminated in the development of concrete action plans by participants to advocate for and lead local seed conservation efforts—laying the foundation for a collective movement committed to preserving indigenous seeds and traditional knowledge.
