About North East Network:
North East Network (NEN) was established in 1995 with a vision to build a society in the north-east region that upholds gender justice and equality. NEN is a women’s rights organisation linking rural and urban women, and organisations on development and related issues within NEN. It works in Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
NEN works on four thematic areas – (a) Gender Based Violence against Women (b) Good Governance & State Accountability (c) Natural Resource Regeneration and (d) Livelihoods and Resilience.
North East Network is looking for a State Coordinator (SC) for its Meghalaya state office, on the following terms and conditions:
No. of Positions: One (1)
Base Location: Shillong, Meghalaya, with travel to district centres and to other State Offices in Assam and Nagaland.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Strong overall knowledge of and passion for women’s rights and gender justice.
- Proven track record of programme and budget management, grassroots mobilisation, team leadership, and partnership building.
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
- Excellent written and spoken skills in Khasi and English.
- Skilled in using office management software such as MS Office/Google Workspace/Excel/PPT, etc.
Key Responsibilities
The overall expectation of the State Coordinator (SC) at NEN, Meghalaya is to uphold the ideology of the organisation and carry forward its spirit of bringing change to rural communities. She will have the space to contribute innovative ideas to promote and protect the issues of women and youth, as envisioned in NEN’s vision.
The SC is required to meet the following expectations:
Strategic Programme Management
- Provide strategic leadership to state-level programmes related to community mobilisation, government interface, knowledge building, action-oriented documentation, alliance building, surveys, communications, social media, and MIS inputs, etc., from a gender and feminist perspective.
- Develop and implement comprehensive programmatic interventions for timely and effective project delivery.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation tools and apply them to measure project outcomes and deliverables.
- Conduct state-level meetings and programmes with diverse stakeholders from both government and non-government sectors.
- Take the lead role in studies, surveys, and dialogues on behalf of the organisation, towards developing annual publications, literature, and IEC materials from a gender and feminist perspective, in English and local languages.
- Design training sessions and modules, and promote creative learning through innovative methods.
- Build, maintain, and sustain effective relationships with government agencies, NGOs, private entities, women’s organisations, networks, and community institutions.
- Represent NEN in state, regional, national, and global forums, networks, meetings, and events.
Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of a minimum of 15 staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning; provide guidance and mentoring to staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Ensure the capacity development of district team members to help them realise their full growth and potential.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilisation
- Contribute to overall resource mobilisation efforts for the state, and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, including state agencies, institutions, corporates, and individual donors.
Admin, HR and Finance
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring effective functioning of the state office.
- Support the HR & Admin Lead in staff performance management and recruitment; identify training needs and implement staff capacity-building plans.
- Work closely with the HR & Admin Lead to ensure consistent implementation of NEN’s policies and guidelines.
- Oversee and streamline daily accounting and financial operations, including budgets, asset management, and liabilities tracking, ensuring compliance with accounting and financial requirements.
Overall Organisational Responsibility
- As a member of the senior leadership team, the SC will play a crucial role in the organisation’s functioning.
- Participate in Governing Board and General Body meetings as required, and present state project updates.
- Undertake any other duties assigned, in keeping with the vision, mission, and philosophy of North East Network.
Essential Qualification/s: Postgraduate degree in Sociology, Social Work, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or Humanities from a recognised university.
Work experience: Minimum 5- 6 years of work experience in the development sector preferably on women’s rights and gender justice.
Language Proficiency: Excellent written and communication skills in English and Khasi are essential.
Commencement of Appointment: August, 2026

North East Network is looking for a Fundraising Consultant on a contractual basis for 1 year to fulfil the following terms and conditions-
No. of Position/s: One (1)
Base Location: Guwahati, Assam
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of a long-term fundraising and resource mobilisation strategy for a women’s organisation
- Develop frameworks and templates for writing fundraising proposals in consultation with team
- Identify and conduct resource mapping of donors and funders (national, international, bilateral and CSR among others)
- Develop communication materials for fund raising activities
- Sustain networking, relationship building and communication with potential donors
Essential Skills & Capabilities:
- Proven successful track record in fundraising for non-profit sector for 2 years (Enclose illustration)
- Excellent organisational management ,written and verbal communication skills related to this position. Fluency in English language is essential
- Knowledge of women’s issues in the north east region of India is an added value
- Ability to function under a challenging multicultural work environment and travel to Meghalaya and Nagaland as necessary
- Participate in capacity building programmes of the organisation
