NEN Assam recently organized a creative writing workshop on February 6, 7, and 15, 2023, for Support Group members and survivors of Gender Based Violence in four districts of Assam, namely Kamrup, Udalguri, Darrang, and Golaghat. The workshop, facilitated by Rashmi Rekha Borah, the Project Lead of NEN Assam, aimed to nurture the creative writing ability of the participants by engaging them in various techniques of writing, identifying areas of strength, providing constructive feedback, and critiquing each other's works in a supportive and safe environment. During the workshop, the participants shared their connection with writing and how it can be a therapeutic tool for healing. The women recited their own poems, as well as those of women feminist writers and poets from different parts of the world. The participants showcased their creative talents through a display of their self-composed poems, which were based on their lived experiences. The workshop was an excellent platform for the participants to share their stories and connect with each other, while also honing their writing skills in a nurturing environment.
