Women are the backbone of every economy but often go unrecognized. As a part of strengthening women groups in East Khasi Hills, North East Network organised a programme on Recognition of Rural Women Workers’ Contribution to the Un-organised sector in Observance of International Human Rights Day on 10th December, 2018. The programme was held at Orchid Restaurant Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
Block Labour Inspector of Mawryngkneng, Smt. I. War , gave an inspirational talk about the provision and benefits under Meghalaya Building and other Construction Welfare Board. The programme was instrumental in creating awareness about schemes and benefits offered by the Labour department, and also created a linkage between Labour department and rural women labourers. As many as 60 rural women labourers from Mawryngkneng Area attended the programme and benefited from the information.
