The Akhil Shillong Nepali Mahila Samiti in collaboration with North East Network organised a medical health camp for women and children from 6 localities with the objective of providing free medical aid, to identify cases on violence against women and children and to take necessary action if required. The health camp was held on May 5, 2018 at Jeevan Ram Goenka Hospital, Jhalupara and was inaugurated by Shri A.L Hek, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya. Two gynecologists from Ganesh Das Hospital were deputed for the medical camp. A total of 251 people received medical assistance and benefitted from the health camp and approximately 35 patients (Adolescent girls and women) were referred to Ganesh Das Hospital and Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) clinic. The designated NEN Outreach worker from this area will follow up on the referral cases.
