Due to the current scenario of pandemic across the globe, which has restricted physical meetings, Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Assam, North East Network and Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT) organised an online training programme for the OSC staff. The training was held for the OSC staff of 11 districts of Assam between 7th to 11thDecember, 2020.
There were 40 participants from OSCs of 11 districts (Kamrup Rural, Kamrup Metro, Darrang, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Sivsagar, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh) of Assam. The participants included centre administrators, counsellors and case workers. Along with them, 3 staff members of NEN attended the training. Six speakers who have been associated with gender studies, women rights, human rights, advocacy and research were invited to the training.
The sessions covered the following topics: Capacity building of the OSC staff in the context of violence against women; Build better understanding of the OSC staff on ways and means to work with various stakeholders in mitigating domestic violence; Update them on legal mandates associated with violence against women; Provide platform for OSC staff to interact with each other and help them in preventing burnouts.
