Taking the NEN- CEHAT- Civil Hospital Nongpoh’s collaboration ahead on building health systems response to VAW & C, a study visit by a team of 5 health care providers was organised , on the 23rd and 24th of November 2022, to CEHAT’s crisis intervention centres called ‘Dilaasa’ which are functional in public hospitals in Mumbai. The visit aims to help teams to grasp nuances on the role of health care providers in responding to VAW & C, improving health care for women and children survivors of violence coming to the hospital, identifying the survivors, in order to give holistic care to the survivors and referrals.
During the two days study visit, the team were oriented about the Dilaasa, its role, the support it provides to survivors of violence and were also made to comprehend the workings of this partnership between hospital and the Dilaasa Centre.
The team also interacted with MS of Bhabha Hospital, Dr. Sanjay Goyal on the workings of Dilaasa within the hospital and how regular awareness trainings, by CEHAT and Dilaasa, to all the staffs of the hospital to identify DV Survivors strengthened their response and collaborative efforts in assisting survivors receive the services they require.
A field visit to the Dilaasa centres was also conducted, whereby the team was able to observe and learn first-hand of the functions of the centre.
