The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an international campaign that annually mobilises people worldwide to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. North East Network (NEN) launched this campaign for the first time in North East region (NER) of India in the year 2005. Founded by Eve Ensler, in 2012, to end rape and sexual violence against women, the One Billion Rising movement emerges each February as a powerful demonstration of solidarity. With the vision of upholding women’s rights and gender justice in NER, NEN joined together with the global and national community to observe the 2024 “16 Days of Activism Against GBV” campaign and launch the 2025 “One Billion Rising” movement with the theme “Rise for Diversity and Inclusion of All”.
Here’s a glimpse of the varied activities.
