North East Network (NEN) in collaboration with Jaintia Hills District Police organised a Community Awareness Programme on Violence against Women on 30th May 2017 at the District Library, Jowai. The key topics covered in the programme were:
1. Crime against Women: Domestic Violence, Rape and Sexual Harassment at Public Places,
2. Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace
3. Cyber Crime
The number of participants was 91 which were a composition of personnel from the Police Department, District Social Welfare Officers, Women Police, Additional Superintendent, staff and students from educational institutions, and the local authority of community leaders. The resource persons of the programme were Shri I. R. Muthu, Superintendent of Police – West Jaintia Hills, Smt Theilin Phanbuh – Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women, Smt Iadalin Tariang – Member Secretary, Meghalaya State Commission for Women and Shri A. Phawa – Sub Inspector Police, Cyber Crime Wing, Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
