North East Network in collaboration with Nora Evalyn Higher Secondary School organized an NGO exhibition cum Career Guidance programme on 5th May, 2017 at Nora Evalyn School, Qualapatty, Shillong. The programme started with motivational speeches given by Ms. Mayfereen Ryntathiang and Mr. Daniel Syiem. In their speeches they highlighted about taking risk, exploring possibilities and most importantly understanding one’s worth. They also highlighted the need for the youth to grab opportunities and use that as a platform to bring change. NEN Shillong and Nora Evalyn School started working together since 2016 on awareness programmes for the students on subjects of gender, cyber crimes, women’s rights and substance abuse. As part of their Silver Jubilee, this programme was organized to give the students of Class 12 an avenue to understand the development sector and opportunities available. It also gave the students an access to the various skill and vocations that they could enter into. About 16 organizations (both government and non-government) participated in the programme:- Grassroot, Faith Foundation, Aide Et Action (ILEAD Project), Women for Integrated Sustainable Empowerment (WISE), IL&FS, SINAI Training Centre, Jettwings Institute, Polaris, Bethany Society, Wanphai Nongrum (You & I Cafe), District Commerce and Industries Centre, Industrial Training Institute, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homeopathy, Institute of Hotel Management, Iohlynti- One Stop Centre and Women Cell – Sardar Police Station.
