During Covid-19 , crimes against women and children have intensified locally as well as globally. To raise awareness on the issue, a Bike Rally was held within the city to spread awareness on Gender based Violence, on 5th December, 2020 in Shillong, Meghalaya. The rally was held as part of the 16Days Activism Campaign, by North East Network and Faith Foundation in collaboration with Helping Hands- a Bikers Initiatives, Shillong.
The rally was flagged by the Mission Director of the State Resource Center for Women. The young bikers began the rallly from YMCA, Mawkhar with a final stop at the Malki ground. It concluded with a brief session to signify the significance the campaign. The rally witnessed the enthusiastic participation of young men and women bikers who are determined to bring about social change and give back to the society.
Keeping in mind the safety protocols, no large gatherings were held and a total of only 28 people participated.
