North East Network Nagaland organised a residential workshop for youth with the theme “Theater for Social change”, to train young participants to articulate, communicate, narrate stories and translate experiences and issues through the medium of drama and theater. The workshop held from 29th – 31st March 2022 at NEN Resource Centre, Chizami had 12 participants from different educational institutions and communities.
The workshop was facilitated by Dreamz Unlimited, a prominent theatre group from Nagaland. The team covered topics on storytelling, stage usage, evolving a play, emotions and expressions, presentation of ideas & themes, projection, costumes and props among others which are the basis of building a drama.
Similar past workshops and trainings have proved instrumental for supporting NEN’s work in the field of addressing issues of Gender Based Violence & Violence Against Women (GBDVAW) as the medium provides a platform for women, youth and young leaders to express their concerns and voices while showcasing talents and creating wider awareness on social issues within homes and communities.
