North East Network (NEN) along with Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT) is collaborating with Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi District to develop a health systems response towards violence against women (VAW). Nationally, the Criminal Law Amendment (CLA) Act, Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA) and the National Health Policy (NHP) 2017 mandated medical facilities to offer basic care and support to survivors of violence. In this context a training was conducted by NEN and CEHAT at the hospital for 62 health care providers on the 9th and 10th of June 2022. The Resource Persons of the training were Diana Thomas, Researcher, and Mrudula Sawant, Community Development Worker, BMC Hospital, Mumbai and Counsellor, Dilaasa, Mumbai and Darilyn Syiem, Philantropist. To mitigate rights and justice towards women facing violence, NEN partners with CEHAT in order to advocate for the same within the Health Sector in order ease access to health and justice by women and children.
