NEN Nagaland in collaboration with Nenterprise observed National Handloom Day on 6th August, 2021 under the theme “Facilitating Weavers Access to Social Security ” with its registered weavers from 11 villages under Phek District, Nagaland.
A survey conducted in some of the selected villages of Chizami cluster towards the formation of a Weavers’ Producer Company – Li Cheh Kro Weavers Producer Company Ltd. found that there were a substantial number of weavers who did not have even basic identity cards and access to many other facilities provided for the welfare of communities.
In an effort to create awareness on various services, programs and facilities provided by the Government for the weavers and general public welfare, and to facilitate socio-economic linkages, different institutions were invited for on-spot enrollment and services such as ; Adhaar Agency, Pfutsero, SBI, Chizami Community Health Centre (CMC).
The programme was attended and benefitted 182 weavers through the enrollment of New Bank Account, RSBY, PMJYBY, APY, PAN card, Artisans ID, Adhaar mobile linkage and medical assistance – Blood & Hepatitis testing.
