On 17th February, The Shillong Times covered an article about a one-day workshop titled “Legal Awareness of Women and Child Rights and Child Labour” held at the Social Mobilisation and Learning Centre (SMELC), Dakopgre. Iaimanda Ryngksai, the State Coordinator of NEN Meghalaya, was a distinguished speaker in this workshop organised for Nokmas, Traditional Heads.
This workshop was a collaborative effort of the District Administration, West Garo Hills, Tura and the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI). In her discussion, Iaimanda emphasised on “Building Community Response” to combat gender-based violence. She also delved into the subject of women’s participation in decision-making processes within matrilineal societies, particularly pertinent to the cultural landscape of Meghalaya.
