Assam
NEN Assam collaborated with All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), Assam Mahila Sangha, Sarpara M.E School and Sadou Assam Pragatisheel Nari Sangstha and observed the day this year with a day long programme.
Guwahati: 60 participants took part in a meeting followed by a rally. The meeting was graced by Nirupama Borgohain, Rani Gohain , Sudakshina Sharma , Toshaprabha Kalita and many more feminists of the state. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister via the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M) .The issues include to safety of women in public and work places, Women’s Reservation Bill, land rights of women farmers, price rise, women’s helpline, equal remuneration of women workers in the unorganised sector ,etc.
Mirza, Kamrup (R): A sports competition for women and a public meeting was held in Jharobari. Competitions included 100 m race, spoon and marble races and musical chair.
NEN was invited to conducted sensitisation and awareness programmes too-
- Indian Oil Corporation Limited ,Guwahati Refinery: Women’s empowerment and insights for 60 women
- Padmashree Chandra Prabha Saikiani Girls’ Polytechnic, Bamunimaidan: Safety of women in workplace and legal remedies for 100 girls including teaching staff.
- NIPCCD: Overview of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act for 47 NF Railway officials from Guwahati

Meghalaya
NEN Meghalaya organised a Photography Exhibition displaying photo stories of women street vendors and photo stories taken by survivors of human trafficking. Simultaneously, women entrepreneurs/groups were also invited to sell and display their produce at the event, thereby promoting their work.
Students, youth and the general public were made aware of the challenges faced by street vendors, women’s dual role in the society and the infusion of patriarchy in our matrilineal society. The audiences were moved by the stories and were motivated to become change agents. Ms. Gina Phanbuh and Ms. Sushila Swer were facilitated for their contribution to the organization and society through NEN’s work for more than a decade.
