On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, under the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate and for our Future,” North Eeast Network joins the global call for environmental action by organising a series of activities in collaboration with communities, institutions, and diverse stakeholders.

The initiative aims to promote awareness on ecological restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable practices while encouraging collective responsibility towards building a greener and more sustainable future.

The idea is to shift the narrative from “teaching communities sustainability” to recognising the sustainable practices that have always existed within indigenous knowledge systems and women-led everyday life. These environmentally conscious practices, though often overlooked, continue to play an important role in reducing waste and nurturing a more sustainable way of living across generations.
