As a part of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, NEN celebrated World Human Rights Day which falls on the 10th of December annually. The occasion was celebrated over two days with an art competition titled “A Children’s Pictorial Representation of Human Rights”. It was held on the 9th of December in Reach Ministries Open Day Shelter in Nongmynsong and on the 10th of December in Rilang Children’s Home, Nongshiliang. The participants in both locations participated wholeheartedly and expressed what human rights mean to them in the form of art. They put their imagination and emotions into their art and gave their best. There were also prizes that were distributed to the best among the participants.
The competition was a demonstration that even children understand what human rights mean to them and have a desire to exercise those rights. They are aware and know what they deserve as rights by virtue of being a human being. It was also a great opportunity for NEN to work with children and interact with the Children’s home and open day shelter.
