NEN conducted a day & half workshop on 17 and 18 September 2022 with youth collectives on portrait making of women who remain anonymous and invisible in “his-tory.” With the aim to celebrate women’s contribution and their courage to challenge the norms of a patriarchal society, select members of youth collectives from 6 districts drew portraits of eminent women of Assam who contributed in different fields. Mayur Rajbongshi, member of Anga Art Collective, Guwahati was the resource person for the workshop.
These portraits were framed and gifted to 1 school in each district (Golaghat, Kamrup Rural, Dhemaji, Darrang, Udalguri and Sonitpur) as observation of “International Girl Child Day” on 11th October. The theme of the day was “Our time is now- our rights, our future”.
