NEN Farm School 2023: Nagaland

In this year, our objective was to expand our reach to students in semi-urban and rural areas. To achieve this, the NEN Farm School 2023 was conducted at New Creation School, Sekrezu on the 20th & 21st of October with 47 Students from classes 7th & 8th. The program curriculum was thoughtfully designed to give participants an experiential and holistic learning opportunity. Throughout the sessions, students could learn how to grow food, identify and forage uncultivated edibles through biodiversity walks, and learn about seed systems, pollinators, soil, and others.

The two-day Farm School helped students dive into the intricacies of the food web and food chain in our ecosystems. They also learnt and shared their insights about the different types of soil in their farmlands and the seeds that can be grown in each soil type. Through hands-on training, students were also able to set up one composting unit on their school campus.
