NEN Meghalaya, as part of an initiative to create community response to domestic violence, had conducted an interactive discussion on legal remedies related to women and children. 39 participants (36 women and 3 men) attended the programme conducted at Mawthadraishan Block-West Khasi Hills district, on April 14, 2018. The programme not only created awareness on available laws but also enabled the participants to discuss about how to report cases of crime against women and children (including domestic violence) with the District Social Welfare Officer, District Child Protection Officer, and Officer-In-Charge of District Women Police Station.
